Thinking of Moving to Rugby?
The historic town of Rugby is best known as the birthplace of the game of rugby football. The sport is said to have originated in 1823 when a young man named William Webb Ellis, while playing a game of football at Rugby School, picked up the ball and ran with it. This act is commemorated by a statue of Webb Ellis outside Rugby School.
Rugby School, founded in 1567, is a prestigious public school and was one of the main influences in the development of the sport of rugby. The school’s rugby team played its first recorded game in 1823, and by the 1850s, the school’s rules for the game had become widely adopted by other schools and clubs.
The town of Rugby also has a rich industrial history. It was a major center for the manufacture of machine tools and engineering during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The British Thomson-Houston Company, which was based in Rugby, was one of the largest employers in the town during this time.
Rugby has many historical sites and landmarks to visit, including Rugby School, the Webb Ellis Rugby Football Museum, St. Andrew’s Church (dating back to the 12th century) and the Hillmorton Parsonage Museum, a 14th century building that was the home of the family of the Rev. Samuel Marsden, one of the school’s most famous headmasters.
For commuters, Rugby has good access to the M1, M6, and M45 motorways, and the train station has regular services to London, Birmingham, and other major cities. There are also bus routes connecting the town to the surrounding area.
Rugby town center has a variety of shops, including high street brands and independent retailers. There are also supermarkets and markets for grocery shopping.
On the recreational side, Rugby boasts a number of parks and open spaces, such as Caldecott Park and Whitehall Recreation Ground, perfect for picnics, walks and sports. The town also has a theater, cinema, and several museums, including the Rugby Football Museum.
Rugby St. Cross hospital has an Accident & Emergency department and there are also plenty of GP practices, dental surgeries, and pharmacies.
Rugby has a strong sense of community and hosts a variety of events and festivals throughout the year, such as Rugby Food and Drink Festival, Rugby Festival of Culture, etc.

Photography
Creating the best first impression of your home is essential in order to achieve a quick sale. Our professional photography is captured using the highest quality professional grade cameras, lenses and flashes. We do not use fish-eye lenses to give a false impression; however, we will spend time preparing and improving the RAW image data in professional software to ensure that your home is presented in its best light with images that will induce a ‘show-home’ appeal.
Floor Plans
Our in-house surveyors are experienced CAD operatives and we draft all our own floor plans. This enables us to ensure a higher degree of accuracy than the typical estate agent floor plan. We also provide a level of detail that enables potential purchasers to understand the space and amenities within your home. We obtain our measurements for the floor plans using the latest laser scanners which helps to ensure quick, safe, and accurate collection of data.
3D Virtual Tours (Matterport)
As standard on all of our properties, David Cosby Estate Agents provide 3D Virtual Matterport Tours. This is a wonderful visual tool that creates 'an always-open house' allowing potential purchasers a high fidelity tour of your property that will be perfectly staged 100% of the time. It even enables the viewer to take dimensions - critical for planning their new furniture layouts!
