The pleasant village of Newnham is nestled in a valley to the west of Northamptonshire close to the Warwickshire border and two miles south of the market town of Daventry.
This friendly village has attractive groupings of stone and brick houses and a cherished village green where the popular ‘Maria’s Kitchen’ at the Romer Arms provides good home cooked food and drinks. This cosy public house is named after Romer Williams, a Welsh lawyer who bought the property after settling in the village in 1898 and was renowned for hosting lavish feasts.
The village is fortunate to have a secret cobnut orchard where blankets of snowdrops bloom under the tree canopies at wintertime. Known as the ‘Nuttery’ this historic orchard dates to 1787 and used to operate commercially. Women and children from the village would harvest the nuts for them to be sent to markets in Covent Garden, Birmingham, and Coventry.
The parish church of St Michael and all Angels stands on a high bank and boasts a fifteenth century open battlemented tower; one of only a few open towers in the country and a reminder of Newnham’s past agricultural industry can be found in the Grade II Listed windmill standing aloft Newnham Hill.
Notable past residents of the village include the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Nigel Lawson and the Elizabethan poet, Thomas Randolph.
Newnham is less than a 40-minute commute to Milton Keynes where a wide range of shops and facilities are available as well as Milton Keynes Central Railway with direct and frequent trains to London Euston.

Creating the best first impression of your home is essential in order to achieve a quick sale. Our professional photography is captured using the highest quality professional grade cameras, lenses and flashes. We do not use fish-eye lenses to give a false impression; however, we will spend time preparing and improving the RAW image data in professional software to ensure that your home is presented in its best light with images that will induce a ‘show-home’ appeal.

Our in-house surveyors are experienced CAD operatives and we draft all our own floor plans. This enables us to ensure a higher degree of accuracy than the typical estate agent floor plan. Historic Carpenters’ Marks Found at a Georgian Mill House, Brackley
While surveying a late eighteenth-century mill house in Brackley, we uncovered original carpenters’ marks on the roof trusses — Roman numerals cut into the oak that reveal how Georgian roof frames were set out, assembled, and raised with remarkable accuracy.
Dry Rot in Action
During a recent survey of a Grade II Listed property, we encountered an active outbreak of dry rot within the basement. The fungus had formed extensive mycelium and a distinct rhizomorph “feeding strand” between timber stacks — a striking demonstration of how opportunistic and dynamic timber-decay fungi can be when the conditions are right.
