​Everdon is a small, picturesque village set within a sheltered valley in the rolling Northamptonshire countryside. The village has long historical roots and is recorded as early as the tenth century. The Church of Saint Mary, dating from the fourteenth century, remains a focal point of village life and continues to hold regular services. Its churchyard and setting have prompted occasional claims that it inspired the atmosphere of Thomas Gray’s Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard, a debate that has endured without disturbing the village’s quiet character.
