During the 17th century, Blisworth emerged as a prominent stopover for coaches traveling between Cheltenham and Stratford. Remarkably, it has maintained its small community charm, avoiding evolution into a larger, more urban area. With the construction of the Grand Union Canal in the early 19th century, Blisworth experienced a resurgence as a logistical centre, facilitating the loading and unloading of boats from London. The engineering challenge posed by Blisworth Hill was ingeniously overcome by constructing a canal tunnel and a railway track. This tunnel, extending for 1.74 miles, stands as the UK’s second longest navigable tunnel. Despite these developments and its historical significance, Blisworth has successfully preserved its quaint, village atmosphere, avoiding transformation into a heavily industrialised area.
